Organisational Pulse

Understand how your organisation is working, and where to focus next

Organisations need to continually adapt as strategies, markets and circumstances change. Organisational effectiveness is about having the capacity and capability to respond effectively, and to keep improving how the organisation works.

I help leadership teams understand where they are today, measure progress over time, and identify where organisational effectiveness needs attention.

The work can draw on internal organisational evidence, outside-in analysis, and focused work with the leadership team to understand what the findings mean and what to do next.

01 - Understanding the current state

A clear view of how the organisation is working provides a starting point for action.

Organisational experience

The Organisational Effectiveness Pulse survey provides a structured view of organisational outcomes and the practices that underpin them, capturing how people across the organisation experience the organisation and how work gets done.

Outside-in analysis

Using publicly available data to develop an independent perspective on the organisation, its strategy, leadership and ways of working, without needing to engage the wider organisation directly.

Organisational effectiveness is not a one-off exercise. The same measures can be used over time to understand whether the organisation is moving in the right direction, where progress is being made, and where attention may be needed next.

As priorities and circumstances change, the focus can also evolve, including identifying new critical work practices once earlier changes have become established.

02 - Measuring progress

03 - Making sense of the findings

Measurement and analysis are only useful if they lead to better decisions.

I work with leadership teams to interpret the findings, explore what they mean in the context of their organisation, and determine where to focus. This might involve leadership team facilitation, working through particular organisational issues, exploring the implications for strategy and execution, or designing practical responses to the challenges identified.

There is no fixed programme. The work is shaped around what the organisation needs to understand and address.

04 - Building organisational capacity to adapt

Ultimately, organisational effectiveness is about more than improving individual practices. It is about creating an organisation that can recognise changing circumstances, respond effectively and continually adapt.

That means strengthening the leadership, capabilities and ways of working that enable the organisation to perform today, while building its capacity to perform tomorrow.

Evidence, tools and experienced judgement

I bring together structured measurement, outside-in analysis, practical tools and experienced organisational advice to help leaders understand what is happening and decide what to do about it.

The aim is not simply to measure organisational effectiveness, but to help leadership teams see more clearly, focus their attention and strengthen the organisation's ability to adapt.
